20 NZ Teaching Excellence Awards
Our students will learn from some of New Zealand’s finest tertiary teachers. Over the past 11 years, 20 of our teachers have been awarded prestigious national Tertiary Teaching Excellence Awards from Government.

Our programmes offer both theoretical and applied learning, giving our graduates a head start in the global job market! Among our offerings are 43 degree and postgraduate qualifications, which are equal to those offered at universities.

PESA World-Class Organisational Excellence Award
Otago Polytechnic became the first educational sector recipient of the highly-prestigious Performance Excellence Study Award (PESA) in 2018.

The PESA involves rigorous examination by New Zealand and United States examiners to determine organisational excellence by world-class standards.

$445 Million
Otago Polytechnic contributed more than $445 million to the Otago economy in 2018, according to our latest Economic Impact Report.

With three campuses, 9,000+ students and approximately 759 members of staff, we have New Zealand covered! You’ll find our main campus in the heart of Dunedin’s much loved scarfie-land and we have a boutique campus in stunning Central Otago and an international campus in New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland.

There’s no chance our learners will be overlooked in our small, focused classes! Our average teacher-to-student ratio is 1:16 – meaning you’ll be well-supported academically, benefitting from plenty of one-on-one teaching time.

Who better to understand what it’s like to be an OP student than another OP student? We have a team of 20+ student ambassadors available to meet with new and prospective students and their families to pass on their inside knowledge!
